Journals

While the U-M libraries do not subscribe to a journal that deals solely with teenage pregnancy, there are several journals containing articles which adequately cover the topic. However, to find the best article for one's topic, it is recommended that one use the appropriate indexes/databases first. Databases

The University of Michigan subscribes to a number of databases which contain useful information about teenage pregnancy. Use of many of these databases is restricted to current U-M faculty, staff and students. These databases are identified with this symbol: U-M Restricted Database. Contemporary Women's Issues U-M Restricted Database
This database does not have one subject heading for teenage pregnancy but doing a search in the subject field for adolescents pregnancy brings up many relevant articles about pregnancy in adolescents.

Sociological AbstractsU-M Restricted Database
At the Advanced search screen, search for the terms adolescent pregnancy in the "major descriptors and descriptor codes" fields. NATASHA: National archive on sexuality, health and adolescence. (1988). Palo Alto, CA: Sociometrics. CD-ROM S6, Social Work Reserves. A collection of 82 social science studies on topics related to teenage pregnancy and family planning.

Videos

While the Social Work Library does not collect videos or DVDs, the Film and Video Library in the Shapiro Undergraduate Library has a large collection of films on various subjects. For a complete listing of films available for viewing, search the Mirlyn catalog. This list of videos is very selective.

Child Trends. The "Research Briefs" contains information on adolescent sexual behavior, and the "Facts at a Glance" provides statistics on the teen birth rate. There is also a list of publications available from this organization.
