The purpose of the accompanying web pages is to give brief instructions on using RefWorks with some of the most frequently used databases for topics in the field of social work. RefWorks
(
)
is a web-based bibliographic management tool used
for downloading, storing and organizing bibliographic citations. With RefWorks
you are able to download and save citations directly from a number databases
such as those listed below, including Mirlyn,
the University of Michigan catalog. When citations have been added to a RefWorks
database, it is simple to create bibliographies. RefWorks also has a plug-in,
which when added to Microsoft Office Word, allows you to create correctly formatted
citations on the fly as as you are writing a document in Word.
Because each social work database is constructed differently, the process for downloading citations from each database into RefWorks also varies. The links in the pull-down menu below take you to instructions for downloading citations for each database service listed. (For a complete list of social work databases, see the Alphabetical List of Social Work Databases.)
