19. For other kinds of government information, use:

FirstGov (easy access to administrative or agency information)
http://www.firstgov.gov/
FirstGov.gov is the official U.S. gateway to all government information. It's mission is to transcend the traditional boundaries of government by encouraging government agencies to provide portals organized around customer groups and topics. Examples of cross-agency portals include: students, people with disabilities and exporters; federal forms; and federal jobs. FirstGov.gov also serves Spanish speakers with its Spanish-language web portal, FirstGov en Español. You may limit your search to federal sites, all state sites or select a specific state from a list.

Google: UncleSam
http://www.google.com/unclesam

  • Fast search engine which indexes only .gov and .mil web sites
  • Excellent for obtaining U.S. policy information

Compare results with a Google Advanced Search, limiting the domain to .com.

General Accounting Office (GAO) Reports
http://www.gao.gov/
or http://www.gpoaccess.gov/gaoreports/
Great for program evaluations and policy critiques.
