American Association of Retired Persons (AARP)
The AARP provides a Grief and Loss section, which contains a collection of useful resources, including practical information (such as how to deal with financial concerns and funeral plans) as well as information and publications on specific grief and loss related topics.
American Association of Suicidology
An education and resource organization with much useful information, including substantive resources for survivors of suicide.
Association for Death Education and Counseling
The Association for Death Education and Counseling provides information, support and resources based on research and theory.
Center for Grieving Children, Teens and Families
The Center for Grieving Children, Teens and Families is a place for young people and their families to grow through the healing process. In addition, this site serves as a training and resource center for professionals and others who interact with grieving children and teens.
Compassionate Friends
Compassionate Friends is a self-help support organization whose mission is to help families after the death of a child. The site includes brochures, FAQs, info on the national conference and local chapters as well as links to news and other relevant articles.
Growth House
A guide to resources related to death, dying, grief, bereavement and end-of life issues. Provides excellent sets of resources for specific situations, such as suicide, helping children with grief, pregnancy loss and others.
Hospice Association of America
More geared to the ‘industry’; however, there are some good resources aimed at consumers. A good source for statistics.
Hospice Foundation of America
This organization exists to help those coping "personally or professionally” with terminal illness, death and the process of grief and bereavement. The site includes much information in their ‘grief and loss’ section as well as a caregiver’s corner (tools, links and reading) and information (including statistics) on various aspects of hospices and the care they provide.
Mentalhealth.net
Mental Help Net is a well established and regarded web site designed and maintained by clinical psychologists with the purpose of providing educational information about various aspects of mental health. Information includes news, articles, reviewed links, interactive tests, book reviews, self-help resources, therapist and job listings and videos. Among the many topics addressed are “Grief and Bereavement Issues”.
Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS)
The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) provides support, services and networking to families of those who have died in service to America. This site also includes an excellent list of links to other relevant sites and resources related to grieving children, legislative issues, and government and other resources.
William Wendt Center for Loss and Healing
The Wendt Center for Loss and Healing provides mental health services, training, and education to those coping with illness, loss, and bereavement. Their site aims at providing useful and practical information in support of learning about healing in relationship to life-challenging illness, loss and grief.
