What I do
As a half-time Public Service Librarian in the Social Work Library, my primary responsibility is the provision of reference and research services, both in person and online. I am also working on updating the SWL's online topical research guides and work with staff and students to create exhibits related to the interests of the school. I am especially interested in non-profit management, child welfare and adoption and hope to strengthen and/or develop expertise in these areas.
Background
My undergraduate degree is in Arts and Media from Grand Valley State University.
I received my A.M.L.S. from the University of Michigan in 1981, and since then have worked in a variety of research library settings, including Marquette University, the Library of Congress, and at the University of Michigan since 1988. I have extensive experience in the areas of reference, instruction and collection development and maintenance, and was also the Foundation/Grants librarian in the Graduate Library for a number of years. I have served in volunteer positions in a number of non-profits, including the Hunger Coalition, Recording for the Blind, Girl Scouts, the Sierra Club, parent-teacher organizations, Interfaith Hospitality Network, and the NEW (Non-Profit Enterprise at Work) Center.
