A digital display about The Race Card Project appears on screens in Bert's Study Lounge just inside the entrance to the Shapiro Library.
NPR's Michele Norris started The Race Card Project in 2010 to help foster a candid dialogue about race. The project encourages students and faculty to join in a conversation about race, ethnicity or identity using just six words. Since then people from all over the world have submitted, both on the website and through postcards, their 6 word essays about race.
Related events on April 18 include a reception with brief remarks by Michele Norris and a Diag display of race cards submitted by U-M students, faculty and staff.
