Understanding Race theme semester

Event Information

Date & Time
April 18, 2013 - 10:00am to 2:00pm
Location
On the Diag (outside)
Event Type
Open House

Stop by the Diag to view a display of cards submitted by U-M students, faculty and staff as part of The Race Card Project. Volunteers will be on hand to help you to make a contribution to the display, and NPR's Michele Norris will visit the installation from 12:30-1 p.m.

Norris started The Race Card Project in 2010 to help foster a candid dialogue about race. The project encourages students and faculty to join in a conversation about race, ethnicity or identity using just six words. Since then people from all over the world have submitted, both on the website and through postcards, their 6 word essays about race.

Related events include a digital display in Bert's Study Lounge and a reception on April 18 that will include brief remarks by Michele Norris.
