Borrowing & Circulation

All current University faculty, staff and students may charge out materials.

Science Library books circulate for the academic term for faculty, graduate students and staff, and three weeks for undergraduates. Science Library journals and most Masters Theses do not circulate.

There are unlimited renewals on Science Library books, unless they are requested/recalled by another borrower.

Fine amounts are listed at the UM Libraries Borrowing & Circulation main page. You may pay any fines at the Hatcher Graduate Library main desk. You may contest fines from a specific UM library only at that particular library.

Items not owned by the UM library may be requested through Interlibrary Loan. The 7FAST document delivery service can be used to request scanned copies of print materials owned by the library, and is free to all faculty members, graduate students, researchers and staff.

Try our Library to Library Delivery (Get This) Service, which allows circulating books to be sent between most campus libraries for pickup.

Use our purchase request form to request that we add an item to our collections.

If you have any questions or comments, please contact the Undergraduate Library circulation desk on the first floor of the building:
