Save the Date!
This year's Science Covers Celebration will take place on Tuesday, February 15, 2011, from 4:00 to 6:00pm. Located in the Science Library's Shien-Ming Wu Current Periodical Reading Room (third floor Shapiro), this event will feature remarks at 4:30pm from Philip J. Hanlon, Provost of the University of Michigan, followed by refreshments. The event will be free and open to the public, no registration necessary.
With the Science Covers Project, we celebrate faculty, staff, and students in the LSA natural sciences departments and the School of Natural Resources and Environment who have authored books in recent years, or whose research article has been featured on the cover of a journal. We combine each author's citation and cover image to create works of art. This year we will honor the authors of 36 new covers to add to the permanent display in the Current Periodical Reading Room.
Mark your calendars! We look forward to seeing you at this wonderful annual event!
Funding for this project was made possible through the Shien-Ming Wu endowment fund, a generous donation from Daisy Wu in honor of her late husband, a U-M faculty member in Engineering.
