Where to Start Searching

The UM Libraries provide many indexes or databases that can be searched by author or keyword. These databases may be accessed from Mirlyn or SearchTools. To browse online journals, go to SearchTools and click on Find E-journals. Or go to the Electronic Journals and Newspapers webpage for listings by subject. This webpage is no longer maintained, but can offer a sample of what kinds of titles are available in your subject area.

Coverage for the databases varies. Some databases, like ProQuest, cover many subjects but in less depth. Others focus on just one academic discipline, and cover it very thoroughly. For examples, take a look at our list of science databases.
