Journal Supplementary Materials Guide

Many scientific research journals (especially chemistry journals) publish additional experimental details which are too lengthy (e.g. extensive crystal structures or spectra) or in non-print formats (moving images, 3-D structure files, protein databank, etc.).  This material is often referred to as Supplemental Information or Supporting Material or Supplementary Materials, and has been published in the past on microfiche, or now usually on the web.

Much of the supplementary material on the web is free, regardless of whether the University of Michigan subscribes to the e-journal or not.

The following list contains links to available Supporting Information for a number of chemical journals, especially American Chemical Society and Royal Society of Chemistry journals. Most supporting info on the web is currently only available from the mid/late1990s forward. UM Library Microfiche holdings, as noted, are available at the University of Michigan Hatcher Graduate Library, 2nd Floor Serial & Microfiche area.
