The Mass Deacidification program manages selection and routing of books to and from an external vendor for deacidification treatment. Since 1998 the University Library has worked with Preservation Technologies, L.P., in Pennsylvania to treat selected books from the general collections by the Bookkeeper process to neutralize harmful acids in the paper. About 6500 volumes annually have been deacidified.

Clients: Preservation Division managers work with Library selectors and the Collection Management and Development Council to identify and prioritize collections for treatment.
