Access to ICPSR data for the University of Michigan

Users can search the ICPSR web site and retrieve data directly. If you are at a UM ip address you will gain access after agreeing to the statement of conditions. If you are accessing from any other ip address you will be asked to authenticate using your uniqname and the password you use with the library authentication procedure. Information on the library authentication procedure can be found on the Remote Access and Proxy Server page.

ICPSR codebooks

Codebooks contain information on contents, structure and layout of datafiles. Most ICPSR codebooks are available electronically and can be read, or searched, on the ICPSR web site. In addition, the University Library owns print copies of many of the codebooks. These codebooks are cataloged and listed in MIRLYN. Additionally, Numeric & Spatial Data Services currently holds a small collection of codebooks, which have not yet been entered into MIRLYN. Please see us to determine if the codebook you need is here.
