Holds and Recalls

A hold or recall may be placed on any item that Mirlyn indicates is charged out. A hold will be available for the requester whenever the item is returned. Recalls are usually available within ten days. (The waiting period may be longer if the book was recently checked out or if there is a waiting list for it.)

When a book is recalled, the borrower will receive a recall notice. The recalled item is due on the NEW RECALL DUE DATE, regardless of the date stamped in the back of the book. Borrowing privileges are suspended if a recalled item is not returned by the recall due date. In addition, a $2.00 per day fine is assessed to all categories of borrowers.

You may place a hold or recall through Mirlyn. To do this, login to Mirlyn, locate the desired item, and click on the "What Libraries Have" link. Then select the "Get This" link to place the hold or recall.

Holds and recalls may also be placed at the Circulation Desk by filling out a request form, via e-mail (music.circ@umich.edu), or via the Hold & Recall Form. In all cases requests must include the call number, author, and title, and the requester's library barcode number.
