Delivery Services

Library to Library Delivery

To have materials delivered from one campus library to another, use the "Get This" button in Mirlyn. You may also use this service to have items retrieved from the Buhr Shelving Facility and sent to the library of your choice.

To request an item for delivery, login to Mirlyn, locate the desired item, and click on the "What Libraries Have" link. Then select the "Get This" link to request delivery to the library of your choice. The response time is 1 to 3 days if the item is on the shelf. You will receive an email when the item is ready for pickup.

Interlibrary Loan

The University Library offers an Interlibrary Loan service to obtain materials not held in the University of Michigan Library. This service is available free of charge to UM students, faculty, and staff. Materials necessary for study and research, such as books, articles, dissertations, and microforms can be borrowed from other libraries.

ILL requests may be submitted through the Interlibrary Loan Request Form or through CSA and First Search databases. Loans typically take 5 to 10 days to arrive, while copies are often obtained within 1 to 3 days.

You may have your Interlibrary Loan items delivered to the Music Library. Set your default pickup location through this link on the Interlibrary Loan site.

Please visit the University Library's Interlibrary Loan site for more information about this service.

7FAST

7FAST is an on-campus document delivery service. As part of a pilot project, all faculty, graduate students and proxies can currently have UM materials delivered for free. UM materials are delivered to undergraduates and staff for $3.75 per request.

Articles and book chapters are delivered electronically via PDF, while books can be delivered directly to your office. Most items are delivered in two business days or less. Requests should be placed through ILLiad, the same electronic system used for Interlibrary Loans.

For more information, please visit the 7FAST website.
