American Institute of Physics (AIP) iResearch

In order to access full articles, you will need to verify that you're a UMich user. After selecting an article, click 'Sign In via Shibboleth/Athens' in the upper right corner. Select the University of Michigan as your organization (using Option 1) and enter your uniquename and password. 

American Chemical Society (ACS) Mobile

Available for Apple and Android devices (in iTunes and Google Play app stores). Unfortunately, UMich users can’t get access to full text articles.

BrowZine

BrowZine is a tablet application that allows you to browse, read and monitor thousands of journals available through the University of Michigan Library, as well as a number of open access journals. BrowZine includes journals from many of the major publishers, but not all the journals available to you as a University of Michigan affiliate are included. New journals continue to be added. Available for iPad and Android devices (in iTunes and Google Play app stores). You will need to sign in with your University of Michigan uniqname and password. The credentials are encrypted on the device and not passed back to the BrowZine servers. Read more about how authentication works with BrowZine.

ChemSpider

This app is available for Apple and Android devices (iTunes and Google Play app stores). ChemSpider is a free chemical structure database providing fast text and structure search access to over 32 million structures from hundreds of data sources.

EBSCOhost

Access to over 80 databases provided by EBSCO, in the EBSCOhost interface, including databases formerly published by H.W. Wilson Company on the now discontinued WilsonWeb interface. Audiobooks and eBooks currently aren't available on the app. This free app is available for Apple and Android devices (in iTunes and Google Play app stores). After downloading the app, follow the authentication directions at this website. Use your UMich e-mail address to authenticate that you are a UMich user. 

EndNote

This app is only available for iPad (in iTunes app store). It also isn’t free. Allows you to make annotations in articles and then sync these annotations with desktop and online EndNote libraries.

iSSRN

Provides access to the latest Social Science and Humanities research in the SSRN eLibrary. Allows iPhone and iPod Touch users to search over 250,000 papers and read the full text on their device. Available in the iTunes app store. You will need to create a username and password on www.ssrn.com (Click 'First time user? Free registration' in the upper left corner). 

Mendeley

With this free app, you can read and annotate PDFs. Syncs with desktop Mendeley accounts. Only available for iPhone and iPad (in iTunes app store). Currently not available for Android devices. Third party app developers have made Android apps that are similar to this Mendeley app.

NatureJournals

Access science news stories and the latest published research from Nature Publishing Group on your iPhone or iPad. Available in the iTunes app store. Full text articles are not available on this app. To access full text, use a mobile web browser via MWireless. 

Naxos Music Library (NML)

This online classical music library offers streaming access to almost 80,000 CDs with more than a million tracks, including both standard and rare repertoire. Download the NML app from Google Play or iTunes app stores. To access the music, you'll need to create an account through NML. To do this, access NML through the library's website and click the Mobile App tab and then 'Sign Up'. Create an account with your UMich e-mail address.

PaperShip                                                                   

Allows you to annotate PDFs and share articles via social media or e-mail. It’s compatible with Mendeley and Zotero citation management software. Available for iPad and iPhone in the iTunes app store.

RefScan

Allows you to scan the DOI on print documents to look up the article in Web of Science or search for articles. You can also save documents to an online EndNote library (even if you don’t have an EndNote subscription). This free app is available through the iTunes app store.

Research Highlights

Access 20,000+ journals from hundreds of publishers. Available through iTunes and Google Play. After downloading the app, create an account with your UMich e-mail address. Full text articles aren’t available through this app. A link to the full text is sent to your e-mail after your institutional credentials are verified.

RSC Mobile

This app provides access to the Royal Society of Chemistry’s journals. This is their first version of the app so users can only be authenticated by network (IP) address. So for most users, you won’t be able to access full text articles through this version of the app.

SpringerLink

This free app provides access to articles from 2,500 peer reviewed journals and over 10,000 books (available in iTunes and Google Play app stores). After downloading the app, create an account with your UMich e-mail address to receive access to full text PDFs.  

Association of Computer Machinery (ACM) Digital Library

Allows you to download full text PDF articles and save articles to your Binder. Free app available in iTunes and Google Play stores. After downloading the app, click ‘Remote Access Service’ at the bottom of the screen. Create a free ACM web account using your UMich e-mail address. Then log in to your ACM web account using the username generated by ACM.
