The University of Michigan Library is pleased to announce that records from the HathiTrust Digital Library are available for Open Archives Initiative (OAI) harvesting. HathiTrust is a partnership of major research institutions and libraries working to ensure that the cultural record is preserved and accessible long into the future. There are more than sixty partners in HathiTrust, and membership is open to institutions worldwide. The University of Michigan is one of those partners.

- This link allows an OAI harvester to grab MARC records (DC is also available) of all the public domain and open access HathiTrust texts. Harvesters can be automatically set up to return to this link to grab updated records or discover if any records have been deleted.
- Alternatively, the harvester can grab the MARC records for just the public domain items according to U.S. copyright law, and just the public domain items worldwide.

There are over 1 million records available for harvest.
The University of Michigan Library has released our own open-source OAI toolkit on SourceForge. This toolkit contains both a harvester and a data provider, both written in Perl.
