Covers the gamut from Algebra to the life of Zehrah Colburn. Iincludes two interesting items from Washington Irving: his two-volume Chronicle of the Conquest of Granada (Philadelphia, 1829, marked as first) and The Life and Voyages of Christopher Columbus (New York, 1829). Noah Webster's Improved Grammar of the English Language (New Haven, 1831), as well as the Old Farmer's Almanac of 1860, John Blake's Atlas (New York, 1826, poor condition), The Family Visitor of 1841 in original cloth, Webster and Parkes's Encyclopaedia of Domestic Economy (New York, 1849) and The Experienced American Housekeeper, or Domestic Cookery (Hartford, 1838). Condition varies, but mainly in original bindings. Also added here is a group of 29 items from before 1900 that reproduce earlier American documents (Washington letters, the Columbus letter, etc); these are the only post-1860 items in this lot. 47 items in all |
