Search Tools Favorites (sample image)

A new "Favorites" tool is available now in Search Tools and ArticlesPlus. Users who have logged into Search Tools or ArticlesPlus can mark their favorite databases, online journals, and article citations allowing retrieval of them again later.

When you search or browse for databases and journals in Search Tools or search for articles in ArticlesPlus, you will notice a gray start to the left each item on the results page. Saving an item as a favorite is as easy as clicking the gray star next to the item you want to save. The star will become yellow, indicating the item has been saved. To remove it from the favorites list, click the yellow star next to the item.

Within Favorites there are separate lists for databases, online journals, articles, and searches. Any items previously saved in "My Search Tools" are available here, in addition to any new items you mark as a favorite. (Note that it is not yet possible to "favorite" a new search, but you can access favorite searches created in the former “My Search Tools” before July 2011.)

There are three ways to get to Favorites:

  1. From anywhere on the MLibrary web site -- click “Login for Favorites” in the upper right corner of the page.
  2. From Search Tools -- click the Article, Online Journal, Database or Search link under the “Favorites” heading on the left side of the page.
  3. From ArticlesPlus -- click the "Go to Search Tools Favorites" link in the upper right of ArticlesPlus pages.

Because the favorites tool requires users to be logged in, the new "Login for Favorites" link now appears in the upper right corner of every page on the MLibrary website. However, you do not need to log in first -- if you try to add an item to your favorites without being logged in, you will be asked to log in.

This new favorites tool exists in parallel with Mirlyn favorites. We will explore ways to integrate these two systems in the coming year.
