Policy
Library supervisors will submit the University’s Position Description Form to the Library Human Resources Office for newly-created positions or for vacant positions in which significant changes have been made.
Process
Supervisor
- Obtains the University’s Position Description Form from Library Human Resources Office or downloads from Library Human Resources website. Completes form.
- Obtains approval from appropriate Sr. Manager and Associate University Librarian using the Library Personnel Transaction Form.
- Forwards to Library Human Resources Office.
Library Human Resources Office
- Reviews form and conducts job comparisons for internal equity in Library descriptions.
- Analyzes unit staffing, background information, market titles, etc.
- Conducts job audit, if desired.
- Consults with Library supervisor if additional information is needed.
- Completes remaining questions, as necessary.
- Signs form to indicate approval of market title or suggests a different one.
- Submits completed form to University Recruiting & Employment Services Office with letter of support.
University Recruiting & Employment Services Office
- Reviews and notifies Library Human Resources Office of approval.
Library Human Resources Office
- Prepares the Job Requisition Form, which provides information on the job’s duties and requirements, and submits to the University Recruiting & Employment Services Office via Wolverine Access.
- Notes vacancies in the Library Newsletter.
- Notifies Library supervisor of assigned market title and posting date.
University Recruiting & Employment Services Office
- Processes the material provided and posts the position on the web. Postings are refreshed daily on the web.
