The Lincoln Highway, one of America’s first paved transcontinental highways, ran 3,400 scenic miles between New York and San Francisco.

The exhibit “On the Road: Celebrating 100 Years of the Lincoln Highway,” on display in the U-M Hatcher Graduate Library’s Audubon Room through Aug. 29, uses rich visual resources – including vintage postcards, maps, and photographs – to document the formation and early days of the Lincoln Highway Association and the construction of the highway itself.
