Social Identity and Role Performance: How Who We Are Sometimes Influences What We Do

Karen Downing presents her Ph.D. research:
What is the relationship between our social identities and how we go about performing our academic library jobs? Come learn about whether or not social identities of all types influence the ways academic librarians approach their reference, instruction, collection development, supervisory and other professional roles.  Also learn more about why some people feel the salience of their social identities, and others do not experience this salience as strongly. The research was conducted over the last year and a half at three Association of Research Library (ARL) campuses.

Role of Librarians' Forum in the Library

The Promotion Criteria Task Force will provide an update on their work so far and share their preliminary recommendations. At last month's meeting a discussion began on the role of the Forum in the Library what responsibilities, if any, it has beyond the interests of librarians.
