Getting Started
We invite your comments to enhance the current descriptions of the manuscripts! Many of the manuscript descriptions you will see on our site contain unverified information. Many others simply lack a good deal of their descriptive information. You can help us enhance the descriptions by doing the following:
1) Begin by reviewing our process for submitting comments and definitions for descriptive elements. This will hopefully guide you in making contributions to our project:
2) Search or browse to reach the description for a manuscript of interest. You can follow category links, tag links, or simply conduct a basic search in the search box in the upper right-hand corner of the site.
3) Review the description you have selected and check for any inaccuracies. Submit a comment to let us know what you find.
4) Follow the image link in the description to view the digitized versions of the manuscripts in the HathiTrust Digital Library. The digitized manuscript should open for you in a new window or browser tab, but you can always right click and select "Open Link in New Window" or "Open Link in New Tab" to be certain.
5) Examine the digitized versions of the manuscripts. You might consult our descriptive elements page to guide your analysis.
6) Looking back at the description on our site, compare the results of your analysis against the descriptive elements you see posted there. Notice any discrepancies or information that is lacking? Please supply it for us by submitting a comment.
7) Check that your comment has displayed properly on our site and watch for feedback. This should come from our project cataloguer in the form of email correspondence, update of the description here and the cataloguing record, as well as your name posted to our hall of contributors.
