Script:
Ruqʻah ; quick, compact hand in a medium to bold line ; serifless and freely ligatured with mainly closed counters, effect of inclination to the right and of words descending to baseline, pointing somewhat careless and in strokes rather than distinct dots.
Support:
Wove paper of two different types, one medium cream to beige in color, the other brown ; some offset of ink on facing pages.
Binding:
Boards covered in black textured cloth ; pastedowns and flyleaves in wove paper printed with a geometric pattern (resembling a scale pattern) in dull gold ; cover gold-stamped with "الفلسفة العصرية" ; sewn in white thread, sewing failing, leaves loose ; overall in fairly good condition.
Accompanying Materials:
Four small slips (from two trimmed bifolia) "tipped in" carrying (paginated pp.5-8, 39-42).
Origin:
Lacks dated scribal colophon ; likely copied in Egypt in the late 1930s and eventually bound for James Heyworth-Dunne (d.1974).
