iv, IV-1 (7), 16 IV(135), IV+1 (144), III (150), i ; chiefly quaternions ; foliation in black ink, Hindu-Arabic numerals ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization (includes flyleaves and inserts).

Layout:

Written in 23 lines per page ; frame-ruled.

Script:

Naskh ; elegant Turkish hand ; serifless with occasional slight effect of tilt to the right or of words descending to baseline, quite rounded and freely ligatured, some elongation of horizontal strokes, pointing in curved strokes rather than distinct dots, initial hāʼ often looking like two inverted commas situated one above the other, kāf mashqūqah preferred, partially vocalized.

Keywords, abbrevations (abbreviation symbols), and section headings rubricated.

Support:

non-European (likely Arab) laid paper with 6-7 laid lines per cm. (20 in 29 mm., horizontal, fairly distinct and curving) and chain lines (vertical) grouped in threes with 9-12 mm. between chains and 44-48 mm. between groups ; dark beige in color, fairly thick and sturdy, well-burnished to glossy ; some leaves possibly tinted dull yellow ; flyleaves in European laid paper, crown-star-crescent watermark in front flyleaf (p.6).

Binding:

Pasteboards covered in red leather ; Type II binding (with flap, now lost) ; board linings in blue-tinted laid paper ; upper and lower covers carry blind-stamped scalloped mandorla (filled with vegetal decoration, compare Déroche class. OSd 8) along with a border in tooled fillets ; sewn in white thread, two stations, many threads broken or loose ; overall in poor condition with flap entirely lost, abrasion, staining, lifting and losses of leather, negative draw in upper cover, etc. ; repair to spine in linen textile.

Ownership statement in name of ʻAlī ibn Ibrāhim accompanied by oval seal impression appears on 'title page' (p.17), reads "مما [...؟] التقدير وانا العبد المذنب الفقير علي ابن الحاج ابراهيم المحتاج الى رحمة القدير عفي عنهما" ; also on 'title page' (p.17), another oval seal impression dated 1057 [1647 or 8] ; numerous glosses and marginal corrections ; notabilia (side-heads) ; collation marks (mainly "بلغ").
