Acephalous, fragmentary copy of a treatise on the astrolabe, appearing to mainly comprise a Faṣl-i shishum dar maʻrifat-i khuṭūṭ.

Collation:
Six leaves (three bifolia), likely constituting a quaternion or quinion lacking two or more leaves ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization.
Script:
Nastaʻlīq (talik) ; compact Turkish hand in a medium to bold line ; serifless with effect of inclination to the right and of words descending to baseline, elongation and contrasting thickness of horizontal strokes, pointing in strokes or conjoined dots.
Decoration:
Overlining in red ; some symbols of table rubricated, also ruled in red (see pp.9-10).
Support:
European laid paper with 6 laid lines per cm. (vertical), chain lines spaced 28 mm. apart (horizontal), three crescents watermark (perpendicular to chains, 87 mm. long, see pp.6, 7, etc.) and initials under trefoil countermark (see p.2), thick, sturdy and well-burnished ; some staining and tide lines.
Origin:
Lacks dated colophon ; paper, hand, etc. may suggest mid to late 17th or early 18th century.
Ownership and History:
Waqf statement (with catch title) appears at head of pp.1, 5, and 7 ; otherwise fairly clean copy.
