Physical Details:

IV (8), 10 V(108), VI (120), 4 V(160), VI (172), 9 V(262), III - 1 (267) ; chiefly quinions ; quire numbering in the form of whole words appears in the top left corner of the recto of the first leaf for quires 11 through 15 ; catchwords present ; pagination in Western numerals, supplied during digitization.

Written in 21 lines per page ; frame-ruled (impression of ruling board evident).

Naskh ; bold, highly legible Egyptian [or Iraqi?] hand ; mainly serifless, though occasional left-sloping head serifs appear on medial lām, etc. ; alifs vertical and slightly tapered ; swooping descenders and frequent elongation of horizontal strokes ; both open and open and closed counters ; kāf mabsūṭah regularly employed, even for final kāf ; alif maqṣūrah often written with two dots above ; fully vocalized.

Some abbreviations (sigla) and vocalization for basmalah and headings rubricated ; keywords set off with red accents ; textual dividers in the form of three inverted commas (in red) and letter hāʼ (outlined in black, filled with red) ; diagram in the margin of p.402 accompanied by a note (not in the copyist's hand) explaining that it replicates a figure inscribed in al-Jamʻ bayna al-Ṣaḥīḥayn of al-Ḥumaydī (d. 488/1095) ; it corresponds to a drawing made by the Prophet described in the ḥadīth alongside the figure.

non-European laid paper (likely Arab, even Egyptian) with 6 laid lines per cm. (vertical) and faint chain lines apparently arranged in 4 sets of 2, with 11-15 mm. between the chains and 43-52 mm. between the groups (compare the Cairene paper of 1326 in Table III of Humbert).

Pasteboards covered in light brown and dark brown leathers with upper and lower covers mismatched ; Type II binding (originally with flap, now lost) ; upper board lining in laid European paper ; lower board lining in wove paper ; upper cover bears blind stamped mandorla (with vegetal composition, compare Déroche class. OSd 1) and pendants surrounded by tooled accents ; lower cover bears a tooled rule border ; sewn in heavy brown thread, four stations ; overall in poor condition with lifting and losses of leather (particularly at spine), abrasion and staining, upper cover detaching, etc. ; repairs to board edges in dark blue cloth ; housed in box for protection.
