24 V(240), IV+1-1 (248) ; almost exclusively quinions ; catchwords present ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization (includes some inserts).
Script:
Naskh ; fine Turkish [Crimean?] hand, varying slightly in size and thickness across sections ; partially seriffed with right-sloping head-serifs mainly on free-standing alif and lām al-taʻrīf, effect of tilt to the left, rounded with curvilinear descenders, pointing in strokes rather than distinct dots, point of final nūn set deep, almost encircled by bowl.
Decoration:
Keywords, section headings, titles of referenced works, and abbreviation symbols rubricated ; textual dividers in the form of red hāʼ, three dots, etc.
Support:
European laid paper mainly with 9 laid lines per cm. (vertical), chain lines spaced 26 mm. apart (horizontal), and "I" watermark (see p.150, etc.), quite dense and sturdy, well-burnished ; another type with 6 laid lines per cm. (vertical), chain lines spaced 24 mm. apart (horizontal), and "P S" mark visible (see p.452, 453, etc.) ; quire carrying pp.121-140 in a type with 12 laid lines per cm. (vertical), chain lines spaced 24 mm. apart (horizontal), and scrollwork watermark (see p.130, 131, etc.).
Binding:
Pasteboards covered in tan leather ; Type II binding (with flap) ; doublures (board linings) in a pink decorative paper with block-printed floral design in blue, green and an iridescent bronze ; upper and lower covers carry stamped (with onlays) mandorla and pendants (filled with symmetrical vegetal composition), as well as tooled border ; sewn in red-orange thread, two stations ; worked chevron endbands in yellow and cream, fairly good condition ; overall in somewhat fair condition though with significant staining, some abrasion, etc.

Origin:
As appears in colophon on p.497 and statement on p.498, copied by al-Sayyid Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥājj Zaynī [Zayn al-Dīn ?] ibn al-Ḥājj Isḥāq al-Kalajī [al-Karajī ?] (Mehmet b. Zeyni b. İshak el-Keleci [Keleçi ?]) in Mārdīn (Mardin). Dated statement following patronage statement on p.498 indicates copy was completed 18 Rabīʻ II 1191 [ca. 26 May 1777].
Ownership and History:
Patronage statement ("برسم حضرت مولانا ... مولا ... ابن حضرة سندنا ومولانا ... المولي ... ابي السعادات...") at close on p.498 dated 18 Rabīʻ II 1191 [ca. 26 May 1777], name of patron unclear (several lacunae) ; also on p.498, statements in a different hand (not that of the copyist) repeating the date and identifying the copyist (with name variants, Zayn al-Dīn rather than Zaynī and al-Karajī rather than al-Kalajī) and place of copying, e.g. "كتبه الفقير الحقير صاحب الذنب والتقصير السيد محمد بن الحاج زين الدين بن الحاج اسحاق الكرجي في ماردين عفي عنه" ; occasional marginal corrections and notabilia.
