Keywords, abbreviation symbols (mainly two teeth stroke above notable words), some notabilia (sideheads) and section headings rubricated ; overlining in red ; occasional textual dividers in the form of red discs.

European laid paper of at least two main types appearing in different sections ; opening through p.42 and pp.165-456 in a type with 10 laid lines per cm. (horizontal), chain lines spaced 27-29 mm. apart (vertical), and anchor in circle with star above watermark (68 mm. tall, see p.8, 456, etc.), sturdy, crisp and fairly thick, well-burnished to glossy ; pp.43-164 and pp.457-536 in another type with 10-11 laid lines per cm. (horizontal), chain lines spaced 27 mm. apart (vertical), and eagle with wings spread watermark ("GFA" below, see p.46, etc.), thin and fairly transluscent, burnished.
Binding:
Pasteboards now covered in dull yellow paper and green-blue paper-backed cloth with dark olive green leather over spine ; Type II binding (originally with flap, though now lost) ; board linings in brown wove paper ; sewn in dark pink thread, two stations ; worked chevron endbands in cream or light yellow and dull pink, good condition ; overall in poor condition with flap apparently lost, lifting and losses of cloth and paper, abrasion, staining, delamination of boards, etc. ; housed in box for protection.
