13 V(130) ; exclusively quinions ; catchwords present ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization (mistakenly skips two pages between p.29 and p.30).
Script:
Nastaʻlīq (talik) ; elegant Turkish hand ; virtually serifless with marked tilt to the right, only very slight effect of words descending to baseline, elongation of horizontal strokes, pointing in strokes rather than distinct dots, free assimilation of letters.
Decoration:
Keywords and section headings rubricated ; overlining in red ; written area of opening quires (i.e. from opening through p.83) surrounded by red rule-border.
Support:
European laid paper of perhaps several types ; one type with 7 laid lines per cm. (vertical), chain lines spaced 25-28 mm. apart (horizontal), and anchor in circle watermark (see p.48, 49 ,et c.) ; another type with 12 laid lines per cm. (vertical), chain lines spaced 24 mm. apart (horizontal), and odd mark (possibly crustacean, scorpion or eagle, see p.42, 56, 130, etc.) ; staining and tide lines ; mends (to cover holes) in leaves carrying pp.113-128.
Binding:
Pasteboards covered in marbled paper (in yellow, dark blue, green etc.) with dark red leather over spine and fore edge flap ; Type II binding (with flap) ; board linings in untinted laid paper ; sewn in blue thread, two stations ; worked chevron endbands in blue and cream (or light yellow), fairly good condition ; overall in somewhat poor condition with much abrasion and staining, lifting and losses of paper and leather, delamination of boards, etc.
Former Shelfmarks:
From interior of upper cover and spine label "IL 268" (likely supplied by Yahuda, see acquisitions slip).
Ownership and History:
Former owners' marks on repaired 'title page' (p.1) include a few statements in Turkish (nearly effaced) and kabīkaj invocation (also partially effaced) reads "يا كبيكج" ; occasional glosses and marginal corrections.
