16 V(160), VI (172) ; almost exclusively quinions ; pp.34-35 left blank (full lacuna, but apparently without missing text) ; final two leaves left blank ; catchwords present ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization.
Script:
Naskh ; angular Egyptian or 'Syrian' [?] hand ; virtually serifless (though head-serifs irregularly appear) with extension of horizontal strokes, pointing in distinct dots (apart from three dots, often instead represented by a curved stroke), and free assimilation of letters.
Decoration:
Keywords and abbreviation symbols rubrciated ; textual dividers in the form of red inverted commas, hāʼ, etc.
Support:
European laid paper with 8-9 laid lines per cm. (vertical), chain lines spaced 26-28 mm. apart (horizontal), anchor in circle with trefoil above watermark (50 mm. tall, see pp.10-11, etc.), and "A C" under trefoil countermark (see p.13) ; sturdy, fairly thick, light cream in color, well-burnished to glossy.
Binding:
Pasteboards covered in yellow-tinted laid paper with tan leather over spine and fore edge flap ; Type II binding (with flap) ; board linings in untinted laid paper ; sewn in cream thread, four stations, sewing gone from many quires ; endbands gone (traces of primaries) ; overall in poor condition with significant staining, moisture damage, abrasion, lifting and losses of paper and leather, delamination of boards, etc. ; cover fully detached from textblock.

Ownership statement dated 1282 [1865 or 6] on 'title page' (p.1) in name of ʻAbd al-Salām al-Shaṭṭī al-Ḥanbalī (d.1295/1878, see al-Ziriklī, v.4 p.6) reads "الحمد لله تعالى في ملك افقر الوري الى الكريم المعطي الحنبلي القادري عبد السلام الشطي" ; marginal corrections ; occasional notabilia (side-heads), possibly in hand of ʻAbd al-Salām al-Shaṭṭī al-Ḥanbalī (see p.40, etc.).
