i, 8 V(80), IV+1 (89) ; almost exclusively quinions ; front flyleaf now affixed to opening leaf ; catchwords present ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization (includes inserts).
Script:
Naskh ; clear 'Syrian' or Turkish hand, small and compact ; mainly serifless, rounded with curvilinear descenders, very slight effect of tilt to the left, pointing in strokes rather than distinct dots, etc.
Decoration:
Keywords rubricated ; written area of incipit and facing page surrounded by frame consisting of gold band outlined by black fillets ; textual dividers in the form of letter hāʼ in red.
Support:
European laid paper with 9 laid lines per cm. (vertical), chain lines spaced 28 mm. apart (horizontal), watermark of anchor in circle with six-pointed star above (65 mm. tall, see p.170, 179, etc.), and "T C" under trefoil countermark (see p.181) ; sturdy though crisp ; well-burnished to glossy.
Binding:
Pasteboards covered in once yellow-tinted laid paper (see flap) with dark brown leather over spine, fore edge flap, and edges/turn-ins (framed binding) ; Type II binding (with flap) ; board linings in untinted laid paper ; sewn in dark blue thread, two stations, many threads broken ; overall in somewhat poor condition with significant abrasion, staining, lifting and losses of leather, etc. ; repairs to spine and fore edge flap in tan leather.
