Script:
Naskh ; angular Egyptian or 'Syrian' hand ; partially seriffed with right-sloping head-serif appearing occasionally on free-standing alif, slight effect of tilt to left and of words descending to baseline, many rectilinear descenders, pointing in distinct dots, elongation of horizontal strokes, kāf mashqūqah preferred, final nūn quite round with dot set deep in bowl, somewhat freely ligatured.
Decoration:
Keywords, abbreviation symbols, and text being commented upon rubricated ; textual dividers in the form of inverted commas in red.
Support:
European laid paper with 9 laid lines per cm. (vertical), chain lines spaced 22-24 mm. apart (horizontal), and crown-star-crescent watermark (roughly 85 mm. tall, see p.16, 17, etc.) ; dark cream in color, sturdy, well-burnished to glossy.
Binding:
Wove paper cover (light brown, single sheet, crisp and transluscent, limp binding without boards) ; sewn in light blue thread, four stations ; cover ill-fitting and in somewhat poor condition with tears, staining, etc.
