Script:
Naskh ; two main hands ; majority hand partially serifed with right-sloping head serif on alif, closed counters, pointing in distinct dots, some vowel markings ; text of fol.9-fol.78 supplied in a different hand, sans serif, with open counters, strokes rather than dots.
Decoration:
Chapter and section headings rubricated ; text commented on overlined in red ; full use of rubrication ends part way through text.
Support:
European laid paper on at least two types ; mainly with 8 laid lines per cm. (horizontal) and chain lines spaced 45 mm. apart, with scissors watermark (compare Piccard no. 122413, Rom 1478) ; fol.9-fol.78 supplied in a different paper ; antique repairs and fills made to leaves laid paper.
Binding:
Pasteboards covered in light brown leather ; Type II binding (with flap) ; doublures in light brown leather ; upper and lower covers carry blind-stamped mandorla (lower cover with paper onlay) and pendants filled with floral vegetal composition (compare Déroche class OSh5) ; pendant on envelope flap ; sewn in white thread, two stations, original sewing may have been four stations ; endbands of white and dark orange, tailband lost, some remains of headband ; spine and fore-edge flap have been repaired with later leather ; fore-edge flaps with some cracks and lifting of leather ; spine covering almost entirely lost, some remains of original layer of leather and green linen lining ; loss and delamination of boards at all corners.

Origin:
As appears in colophon on fol.302a (p.613), copied by Qār ʻAlī bin Pīr ʻAlī [?]. Transcription finished ("waqaʻa al-farāgh min hādhihi al-nuskhah al-sharīfah...") Rabīʻ I 875 [Aug-Sept 1470].
Ownership and History:
Bookplate of British Museum, London on interior of upper cover, "British Museum, London. No. 131. Collection of Traditions from Ibn Malik." ; circular seal impression with figure of goat/gazelle in purple ink as well as inscription "31" in Western numerals on 'title page' (p.1) ; also on 'title page' (p.1) waqf statement accompanied by octagonal seal impression, statement reads "وقفت بكتبخانه عبد الله افندي المفتي بازنجان نمقه الفقير السيد مصطفى افندي سلامى [؟] زاده" ; numerous glosses and marginal corrections.
