Layout:
Written mainly in 27 lines per page ; opening and closing matter in single column, otherwise in two irregular columns.
Script:
Naskh-nastaʻlīq ; virtually serifless ; effect of tilt to the right ; occasional slight effect of words descending to baseline ; elongation of horizontal strokes.
Decoration:
Some section headings and keywords rubricated (and others in blue-green ink, see pp.87-104) ; occasional textual dividers in the form of red discs.
Support:
European laid paper mainly with 10 laid lines per cm. (vertical), chain lines spaced 28 mm. apart (horizontal), and three hats watermark ; well-burnished.
Binding:
Pasteboards covered in marbled paper (salmon, yellow, blue, green, etc.) with dark red leather over spine, foreedge flap, and edges/turn-ins ; Type II binding (with flap) ; pastedowns and flyleaves in European laid paper ; sewn in light pink thread, two stations ; worked chevron endbands in cream, only headband intact ; overall in fair condition with some staining, abrasion, lifting and losses of leather of foreedge flap, etc.

British Museum, London "No. 65. Kamus al-salawat." ; "٢٨٧" on tail of textblock.
Origin:
Lacks dated colophon ; paper suggests 17th century ; note on final leaf dated 1078 (1667 or 1668).
Ownership and History:
Bookplate of British Museum, London on upper cover, "British Museum, London. No. 65. Kamus al-salawat." ; circular waqf-seal impression in black ink appears on opening leaf (p.2) and several places throughout, reads: "هذا وقف الراجي فيض الصمدي الشيخ احمد ضيا الدين ابن مصط فى الخالدي فمن بدله بعد ما سمعه فانما اثمه على الذين يبدلونه" ; invocation on interior of upper cover "حافظ" ; notabilia (sideheads) and glosses) ; occasional marginal corrections.
