Written in 19 lines per page ; frame-ruled (impression of ruling board evident).


Naskh ; fine Persian hand ; virtually sans serif ; mainly closed counters ; slight effect of tilt to the left ; dot of final nūn freely assimilated with bowl ; pointing for letters such as qāf, yāʼ, etc. often in form of caret ; shaddah, mādah, and hamzah used.


Textual dividers in the form of hāʼ, etc. in red ; text rubricated with keywords, abbreviations, overlining, etc. in red.


European laid paper, perhaps more than one type ; mainly with chain lines spaced roughly 26-27 mm. apart, laid lines spaced roughly 10 laid lines per cm., orientation varying ; highly burnished ; varies from thin and fairly transluscent to thick and fairly opaque ; watermarks include three circles with eagle above and "C T B" in central circle also three circles with cross above and "A D B" in central circle ; staining and accretions, as well as many loose quires.


Pasteboards covered in black (or very dark brown) leather ; Type II binding (with flap) ; doublures and interior of fore-edge and envelope flaps in combed marbled paper in red, orange, blue, and white ; upper and lower covers carry central blind-stamped mandorla and pendants with recessed onlays in a bronze color as well as border in a series of s-shaped stamps ; design continues to envelope flap ; sewn in cream/white thread, two stations ; worked endbands in red and cream, partially gone with core exposed ; in fair condition but with much abrasion, staining, and lifting and cracking of leather (particularly spine).

Transcription of Thawāb al-aʻmāl finished 28 Jumādá I 1109 H [December 1697 M] ; transcription of ʻAqāb al-aʻmāl finished 21 Rajab 1109 H [February 1698 M].

Bayan thawab kalimat al-tauhid." ; circular seal impression with figure of goat/gazelle in purple ink as well as inscription "16" in Western numerals on front flyleaf ; on fol.1a (p.5) a rectangular seal impression in black ink, inscription difficult to make out ; collation marks "بلغ" appear throughout first work, and collator is named in statement on fol.76b (p.156) "بلغ من يد الحقير الفقير علي نقي بعون الله تعالى" ; numerous marginal corrections ; occasional glosses and notabilia (side-heads) ; some examples of syntax clarification (taḍbīb).
