Written in 15 lines per page ; frame-ruled.


Naskh-nastaʻlīq ; sans serif ; effect of words descending to baseline ; mainly closed counters ; occasional elongated horizontal strokes and swooping descenders.


Keywords, section headings, and abbreviations rubricated ; some overlining and textual dividers in the form of circles in red.


European laid paper with 9 laid lines per cm. (vertical) and chain lines spaced 28 mm. apart ; watermarks include bird above hill or mount in scrollwork and paschal lamb (compare Heawood 2840) ; occasional staining.


Pasteboards covered in marbled paper with spine, fore-edge flap, and edges/turn-ins in red-brown leather ; Type II binding (with flap) ; board linings in laid paper ; sewn in black thread, two stations, sewing often broken resulting in many loose quires ; in poor condition with severe abrasion, lifting and losses of leather, delamination of boards, minor pest damage, minor spine slant (slightly cocked), etc. ; repairs in cloth and leather.

Numerous inserts carrying glosses, etc. and one document, often tipped in (first not paginated between pp.86-87, then paginated pp.139-140, pp.151-152, pp.153-154. pp.203-204).

Bookplate of British Museum, London on interior of upper cover, "British Museum, London. No. 139. Commentary on al-Akaid al-adudiyah." ; circular seal impression with figure of goat/gazelle in purple ink as well as inscription "131" in Western numerals on back flyleaf (p.210) ; circular waqf-seal impression in black ink appears on 'title page' (p.5) and several places throughout, reads: "هذا وقف الراجي فيض الصمدي الشيخ احمد ضيا الدين ابن مصطفى الخالدي فمن بدله بعد ما سمعه فانما اثمه على الذين يبدلونه" ; what appears to be a death notice on p.5 ; extensive marginal and interlinear glosses ; occasional marginal corrections.
