3 V (30), III+1 (37) ; chiefly quinions ; four leaves of final quire left blank ; catchwords present ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization (skips two pages between p.53-54 and includes inserts).
Script:
Naskh with influence of nastaʻlīq ; neat Persian hand (?) ; virtually serifless ; mainly closed counters ; slight effect of words descending to baseline as well as gentle slant to the right ; almost fully vocalized.
Support:
European laid paper with 10 laid lines per cm. (vertical) and chain lines spaced 30 mm. apart (horizontal) ; watermarkof three crescents overlaid, each in a different orientation.
Binding:
Pasteboards covered in laid paper with spine and edges/turn-ins in brown leather ; Type II binding (with flap, though now lost) ; board linings in a yellow paper ; hinges in pink ; repairs in blue cloth ; sewn in blue thread, two stations ; endbands mostly gone ; in poor condition with much moisture damage, staining, abrasion, lifting and loss of leather (spine lining exposed), delaminating of boards, etc.

Slip of laid paper (paginated p.9-10) and slip with notes (possibly of bookseller, paginated pp.13-14).
Ownership and History:
Bookplate of British Museum, London on inner front cover, "No. 79. Al-Alfiyah fi 'l-hadith." ; circular seal impression with figure of goat/gazelle in purple ink as well as inscription "359" in Western numerals on fol.1a (p.1) ; circular waqf-seal impression in black ink appears on fol.1a (p.1) and several places throughout reads: "هذا وقف الراجي فيض الصمدي الشيخ احمد ضيا الدين ابن مصطفى الخالدي فمن بدله بعد ما سمعه فانما اثمه على الذين يبدلونه" ; occasionaly margina corrections ; inscription on fol.1a (p.1) provides a listing of the various shurūḥ on this work and their authors.
