Welcome!

أهلاً بكم في موقع فهرسة المخطوطات الاسلامية بجامعة ميشيغان

This site is part of an ongoing project to fully catalogue the Islamic Manuscripts Collection at the University Of Michigan, Ann Arbor. At the opening of this project, a substantial portion of our collection lacked full cataloguing. A limited amount of descriptive information had been gathered for these manuscripts, mainly via inventory cataloguing in the early part of the last century. Project staff entered this inventory cataloguing data with limited enhancement as preliminary records in our library catalogue Mirlyn. In addition, the manuscripts were digitized with their digital versions appearing in the HathiTrust Digital Library (HTDL).

For manuscripts now being catalogued, this site displays the descriptive information currently available for each manuscript, accompanied by two images linking you to the digitized version of that manuscript in the HathiTrust Digital Library. This descriptive information has been evolving as contributions from you and local staff have come in, with most of the manuscripts in some stage of full or near full cataloguing as of December 2011.

We invite you to examine the digitized manuscripts and compare the results of your analysis against the existing descriptive information. While we have made significant progress (thanks to your contributions), some descriptive information has still not yet been verified or fully enhanced, and we invite you to join us in that work. Where you see any omissions or inaccuracies, please use our site's comment features to supply enhancements or corrections for the manuscript descriptions. See Getting Started for more details. Your contribution will be recognized both on the site and in the record for the manuscript that appears in our library catalogue. See our Progress page for the latest manuscripts catalogued via the site, along with contributors to the cataloguing.

Thanks in advance for your valuable contribution to this project!
