ILL/7FAST Status Definitions

A note on ILL/7FAST status definitions: many statuses are titled by the system, and cannot be changed.  This list was compiled because we are aware that many of the statuses have strange titles with opaque meanings.

Some terms used by the system:
Borrowing = interlibrary loan
DD/DocDel = 7FAST
Request Sent = a request for the item you want has been sent to another library outside of the University of Michigan

Awaiting ALA Processing:
Your request is being forwarded to a lending library. Additional time may be needed for special processing. ALA = American Library Association, but here refers to the paper ILL request form developed by the ALA.

Awaiting Borrowing Scanning:
Your item has arrived and is awaiting scanning.  We will contact you when your PDF is available.

Awaiting Conditional Processing:
A potential lender has replied to your request, seeking more information, or letting us know if there is a condition to the loan they want to make. ILL is responding.

Awaiting Copyright Clearance:
ILL is processing your request. It will shortly be forwarded to a potential lending library.

Awaiting Customer Contact:
Your requested material has arrived and is ready for pickup. You will be notified shortly via e-mail.

Awaiting Delivery:
Your loan is ready to be delivered to your current pick-up point or departmental delivery address. We will notify you by email when your item has been delivered.

Awaiting DD Extensive Searching:
The material you requested was not found at its MLibrary stacks location after at least two days of searching. 7FAST has referred this request to missing item location specialists. If this search is unsuccessful after three additional business days, 7FAST will forward your request to Interlibrary Loan.

Awaiting DD Process Undergrads:
Your 7FAST request has been received and your status is Undergraduate. If you submitted this request to Interlibrary Loan, ILL staff has located your material within MLibrary and forwarded your request to 7FAST. If you supplied a proxy barcode when you submitted your request, it will not be delayed. If not, you may be asked to supply a payment method.

Awaiting DD Stacks Searching:
7FAST has located your material in the MLibrary catalog in preparation for retrieval.

Awaiting Document Delivery Processing:
7FAST is processing your request. If you submitted this request to Interlibrary Loan, ILL staff has located your material within MLibrary and forwarded your request to 7FAST.

Awaiting Doc Del Scanning:
The material you requested has been retrieved from MLibrary stacks and will be scanned shortly.  We will notify you by email when your PDF is available.

Awaiting Extensive Searching:
An initial search for the material you requested has been unsuccessful. ILL is continuing to search. If you have additional information, please contact ILL.

Awaiting Odyssey Processing:
Your item has been received electronically and will be posted to the web shortly. You will be contacted by email when it is ready.

Awaiting Patron Response:
Your request has been delayed because we need your input in order to proceed. Please respond to the email we sent regarding this request, which can be viewed under the notifications tab on your ILLiad account main menu.

Awaiting Post-Receipt Processing:
Your requested material has arrived, but is not yet ready for pickup. You will be contacted by email when it is ready.

Awaiting Printing:
7FAST has located your material in the MLibrary catalog, and a retrieval slip will be printed shortly

Awaiting Recall Processing:
The lending library has recalled your item. Please return it immediately.

Awaiting Renewal OK Processing:
The lending library has granted a renewal on this loan but ILL staff has not yet recorded it. The due date may change. Please check ILLiad again later for updates.

Awaiting Renewal Denied Processing:
The lending library has denied your renewal request. ILL staff will change the due date back to the original due date. Please return your item immediately.

Awaiting Request Processing:
ILL is searching for potential lenders for your request.

Awaiting Return Label Printing:
Your item has been returned to our office and checked in, and now will be shipped back to the lending institution.

Awaiting Unfilled Processing:
Your request has not been filled by the lenders we have contacted so far. ILL is still working on your request.

Cancelled By Customer:
You cancelled your request.

Cancelled By ILL Staff:
Your request has been cancelled by ILL/7FAST staff. Please read the cancellation email found in your ILLiad notifications or contact us for clarification.

Checked Out To Customer:
Either you have picked up your item or it is being delivered to your departmental delivery address.

Customer Notified Via E-Mail:
Your item has arrived and is available for pickup at your preferred library. You have received an email which may also be viewed as a notification via ILLiad.

Dearborn Requests:
As a member of the U of M Dearborn community, you are not eligible for 7FAST service. Please contact Mardigian Library for information on available resources.

Delivered To Web:
Your PDF is available for viewing or downloading from ILLiad. 

Delivery Issues:
Your request has been referred to our Delivery Supervisor for reasons related to your departmental delivery address. Please feel free to contact us for more information.

Holding Pen:
Your 7FAST request is temporarily on hold, pending staff attention.  Please feel free to contact 7FAST for more information.

In ALA Print Queue:
The lender requires a special form to be mailed or faxed to them. This form has been completed by ILL staff and will be sent. ALA = American Library Association, but here refers to the paper ILL request form developed by the ALA.

In Document Delivery Print Queue:
A retrieval slip is being printed for your request.

In DD Stacks Searching:
Staff is retrieving your item from MLibrary stacks.

In Electronic Delivery Processing:
Your article has been received electronically. If your request remains in this status for more than one hour, please contact ILL staff immediately.

In Transit:
Your item has been checked in at one of ILL's designated return locations and is on its way back to the ILL office.

KBAL:
The material you requested is shelved in the Kresge Business Administration Library (KBAL).  Staff is searching for your item.

Microform Available At Serials Services:
The microform you have requested is available for use at Serials Services, 2nd floor Hatcher South. It is for library use only and not listed under checked-out items in your account. You may request renewals by phone or email.

Pending Electronic Delivery:
A PDF of the document you requested is available through MLibrary's electronic resources. We will either send you a stable link, or supply the material through your ILLiad account and notify you by email when your PDF is available.

Processing Supervisor Attention:
Your item requires special handling by a supervisor.

Rapid Unfilled Processing:
Your request has not been filled by the lenders we have contacted so far. ILL is trying other sources.

Recall Placed:
You have requested that 7FAST recall a checked out MLibrary book rather than forward your request to Interlibrary Loan. The recall has been placed and 7FAST will delivery your item as soon as it is available.

Recalled - Overdue:
Your item is overdue and/or has been recalled by the lending library. Please return it immediately.

Referred to Lib to Lib:
You have requested an on-shelf MLibrary book, and your 7FAST/ILL pick-up location is an MLibrary Circulation Desk.  7FAST will place a Lib-to-Lib hold (aka Get This) on your behalf.  You will receive an email from Circulation when your item is available for pick-up.

Renewed By Customer:
You have requested a renewal. ILL staff will forward this request to the lending library. You have received a temporary due date. Please check ILLiad again later.

Renewed By ILL Staff:
ILL staff has forwarded a renewal request to the lending library. You have received a temporary due date. Please check ILLiad again later.

Request Finished:
Your request has been complete. If you need this material again, you will need to place a new request.

  • PDF requests are finished after they have been posted for two weeks or viewed five times.
  • ILL Loan requests are finished after they have been checked in and returned to the Lending Library.
  • 7FAST Loan requests are finished as soon as they are delivered.


Request In Processing:
A staff member is currently working on your request.

Request Sent:
ILL staff has forwarded your request to potential lenders and is waiting for a response.

Searching ----- [name]:
Your request has been routed to a work queue and is being processed. Please feel free to contact us for more information.

Second Search:
An initial search for the material you requested has been unsuccessful. ILL is continuing to search. If you have additional information, please contact ILL.

Special Instructions:
Your request requires an alternate process or additional instructions.  Please feel free to contact us for more information.
