About the Instructor College Cafe

Welcome to the Instructor College Cafe.  The Instructor College hopes that the Cafe's online community will create an opportunity for conversation to develop around instruction.

The Cafe includes an instruction repository of valuable content such as teacher prep materials, interesting handouts, lesson plans and activities, and creative assessment ideas contributed by instruction librarians from various backgrounds.  The Cafe will also include a space for instruction-related conversation in the Forum.  Forum functionality is currently in a beta phase.

Content Guidelines

Feel free to review and contribute instruction content and create a conversation in the Forum.  Be advised of the following policies regarding content on the Instructor College Cafe.

  1. Contribute Resources:  The purpose of the repository is to provide a place to store and share instructional content.  Prior to the posting of each resource, contributed materials are reviewed by the Instructor College Steering Committee to determine the relevance of the content.  If the content matches the purpose of the Cafe, it is then included in the Café Resources.  You may also edit your previous content.  The edited resource will go through the review process again and will not be available until it is approved by the reviewers.  It is the policy of the Committee, in appropriate circumstances and at its discretion, to disable content that is outside the scope of the Cafe.  Contributors to the Cafe must own the copyright or have the necessary rights for any content that they upload.
  2. Forum (Pilot):  The purpose of the Forum is to provide an opportunity to discuss issues pertaining to library instruction in a welcoming, open environment.  Currently, Forum functionality is being tested in order to develop a functional tool to facilitate this purpose.  The Instructor College hopes to foster an open community where conversation about library instruction can grow between librarians from a broad range of settings and perspectives.  It is the policy of the Committee, in appropriate circumstances and at its discretion, to disable content that is outside the scope of the Cafe or does not foster a welcoming, open environment.
  3. Copyright:  Contributors must own the copyright or have the necessary rights for any content that they upload.  Please be aware that while conversation about instruction-related scholarly articles is appropriate, the uploading and sharing of actual articles may be considered copyright infringement.  If you have a concern regarding the unauthorized use of copyrighted material on this site, please contact the university’s DMCA agent.
