How to become a proxy

  • You must have a University of Michigan uniqname and email address.
  • Fill out this form.
  • Have it signed by the sponsoring faculty member and fax it to the ILL Office (fax number: 734-647-2050) or drop it off at the ILL office, 106 Harlan Hatcher Graduate Library.

Proxy eligibility

ILL proxy borrowing is separate from Circulation proxy borrowing. ILL proxy borrowing is available to individuals working for or with University of Michigan faculty members with a permanent appointment.
Proxy borrowing accounts:

  • Are issued upon written authorization of the faculty member
  • Expire after one year and must be renewed through the ILL office
  • Will be suspended along with the faculty member's if the account becomes delinquent.
  • Allow the sponsoring faculty member to assume responsibilities for the account.
All correspondence will be directed to the proxy; the faculty member will be contacted only when items are overdue.
