Revised ILL Overdue Policies

Beginning May 1, 2013, Interlibrary Loan (ILL) overdue policies will be revised. If you have an ILL item that is more than 60 days overdue, your Mirlyn account will be blocked and you will no longer be able to request or renew MLibrary books; this is a change from ILL’s current policy to block users when items are 90 days overdue.

However, in accordance with ILL’s current policy, you will continue to be blocked in ILLiad (the ILL request system) when your item is 21 days overdue.

Overdue items impact our ability to borrow from our lending partners. Borrowed items need to be returned by the due date to maintain positive working relationships with lending institutions. Returning ILL items late places the University of Michigan’s borrowing privileges in jeopardy and may prevent us from obtaining other materials needed by our patrons.
