The professional literature about library instruction is filled with information and ideas. Finding an opportunity to keep current with the literature, however, can be problematic. Conflicting demands too often can get in the way of good intentions. Taking a cue from the success of book clubs, Instructor College is piloting a Reading Club to provide structure and encouragement for examining the literature of library instruction.
The club meets monthly over the noon hour (brown bag invited). Presentations are given by club members who also select the articles to be featured. Discussion is encouraged. Club members have easy access to the articles, PowerPoint slides, and related material. To join the club go to CTools (https://ctools.umich.edu/portal), login with your uniqname and kerberos pw, connect to ICReading Club and follow the directions.
Meetings are open to all campus library staff in the campus libraries and students in the School of Information. Everyone is welcome and no reservations are needed. Come join your colleagues as we expand our understanding of library instruction.
