Library Classification
The
University of Michigan’s classification system for staff changed in 2005
to a career-based framework that is more closely linked to market titles and descriptions.
While the Library’s staff titles are predominantly in the Libraries and
Museums Career Family, the Library has titles that reside in several other career
families such as Information Technology, Finance, and Human Resources. For a full
description of the University’s career family framework please refer to:
http://careernavigator.umjobs.org/
For
information about the Library's implementation of the University’s new
structure, please refer to the following material which was presented in June,
2005. The presentation covers information about the system the University and
Library had in place prior to the change, the reasons for the change, a review
of the new career family structure and how it specifically applies in the Library,
as well as the process the library used for implementing the change.
