Mission and Goals

MISSION STATEMENT


The mission of the Library Human Resources Department of the University of Michigan Libraries is to provide quality support for all University Library activities and services by planning, developing, administering and evaluating the Library Human Resources functions in order to meet the needs of the Library Staff, users, and other institutions, effectively and efficiently.




GOALS
  • Coordinate, administer and continue to refine the Library's recruitment program in order to attract and retain a highly qualified and diverse staff.
  • Coordinate and administer the Staff Development Program through collaborative planning, implementation, presentation, and evaluation of the program.
  • Administer and continue to refine the Library's classification systems, evaluation processes and salary programs in order to ensure staff members are appropriately compensated for work performance and responsibilities.
  • Continue to provide direction and guidance to Library supervisors in identifying and resolving problematic situations. Continue to provide assistance to all staff members in order to enhance staff efficiency, comfort, and morale as well as improve communications.
  • Continue to develop and implement programs that enhance retention of staff and foster a multicultural, diverse workforce.
  • Provide personnel and financial expenditure reports in order to assist with the budget planning and monitoring process.
  • Maintain and update all the necessary personnel and payroll records in compliance with Federal and State regulations and in support of an effective human resources operation.
  • Monitor and refine the overall operations of the Library Human Resources Department in order to ensure we are responding effectively to the changing needs of Library staff and the public.
