The University Library owns millions of pages of important content on microfilm, content which is not currently available in any other format. The Serials and Microforms Services department in the Hatcher Graduate Library features digital scanners which can be used to view and to capture microform images. This technology eliminates over 100 pounds of power-consuming and heat-producing motors and sub-assemblies found in traditional microform reader printers.

In addition to energy savings, the digital scanners are a flexible alternative to traditional microform research. These devices provide greatly enhanced digital image quality and reduce paper usage as images can be saved to U-M personal computing space or portable USB drives.

Serials and Microforms Services staff are available to assist you with these scanners during normal business hours.
