Item Requests

A request may be placed on any circulating book found in Mirlyn. The requester will be notified via email when the requested item is available for pick up. To request a book:

  • Login to Mirlyn
  • Locate the desired item
  • Select the linked Title to view the full record for the item
  • Select the What Libraries Have link to view item(s)
  • Select the Get This link to request delivery of an available item to the library of your choice

In general, all borrowers are guaranteed the use of a library book for a minimum of three weeks, unless a rush recall is placed to put the book on course reserve. If an item is charged out, the system will automatically put a "recall" on the item. This will shorten the loan period and notify the borrower that the item must be returned.

Renewals

All Hatcher Graduate Library materials may be renewed any number of times unless another borrower has requested the item.

Books from the Hatcher Graduate Library may be renewed via Mirlyn:

  • Click on the link at the top of the Mirlyn screen labeled My Account
  • Enter your Library password
  • Select the Items Checked Out button to view your items
  • To renew individual items, select the link to the item and then select the Renew link on the detailed record
  • To renew all your items, select the Renew All button
Returning Recalls

When a book is recalled borrowers will receive a recall notice via email. The recalled book is due on the date listed after the NEW RECALL DUE DATE, in that notice and in your Mirlyn account.

Recalled books should be returned directly to the Hatcher Graduate Library North or South Circulation desks, or to the outside drop box if the library is closed.

Borrowing privileges are suspended if a recalled item is not returned by the RECALL DUE DATE. In addition, a $2.00 per day per item fine is assessed to ALL student borrowers.
