American Community Survey

Provides sample data updates to the Decennial Census beginning 2002 for all states and all places, Congressional Districts, counties and metropolitan areas of 65,000+ population
Data for places of 20,000+ expected in 2008, all governmental units regardless of size in 2010, and census tracts/block groups in 2012
ACS will replace the long-form Census data in 2010

Some files have estimates by age, race and/or sex from the national to county level

Current Population Reports

Current Population Survey

Monthly sample survey taken by the Census Bureau for the Bureau of Labor Statistics to measure employment status by basic demographic characteristics
Various supplements include race, voting, fertility, school enrollment, computer ownership
Annual survey includes income and poverty data on a national and state level

Data Ferret (BLS/Census)

Data sets from the Current Population Survey and Survey of Income and Program Participation for easy or expert manipulation
- Surveys update and enhance the Decennial Census with national, state, and metropolitan area information
- Subjects include income, poverty, employment, education, health insurance, housing, aging, household and marital status
- Income, poverty, and health insurance were the trial data sets as of May 31, 1997
