Description of Census

Demographic data includes age, race, ethnicity, sex, marital/household status, education, school enrollment, ability to speak English, foreign born, employment, occupation, income, poverty, veteran status, disability status, and commuting patterns
Housing information includes occupancy/vacancy, value or rent, age of home, rooms, plumbing, facilities, and mortgage status
Most data issued for the nation, states, counties, metropolitan areas, cities, townships, census tracts and block groups

Digital Atlas of the United States (Cal State - Northridge)

National maps plot 1990 population, race, ancestry, citizenship, income, povery, and education to the county level
Similar tract level data for California metropolitan areas, New York, Boston, and Washington, D.C.

Geographic Names Information System (USGS)

Search geographic names by name or by feature type (parks, schools, streams etc.) county, latitude, population size
Output provides the name, latitude and longitude, map
Examples: identify names of all parks in Washtenaw County, all schools in Wayne County, or all cities in U.S. with the name of Portland and over 50,000 population
